5 Small Dog Breeds That Always Stay Small No Matter Their Age

Are you a fan of small dogs? Being small has its advantages.

Some of the major advantages are without a doubt; easy to take care of, don’t need much space, live longer and can travel with you where ever you go.

Those are some of the reasons why, nowadays, more small dogs are being kept as pets than bigger dogs, according to the American Kennel Club.

Do you want a small pooch as your pet? Here is the list of five popular small dogs that always stay tiny no matter their age:

1. Papillion They look cute and innocent. Their height can reach up to 11 inches and weigh between 7 and 10 pounds. You may easily carry them without worrying about their weight. I have seen people carrying this breed in their bag.

They simply look adorable. At times Papillion is referred as the butterfly dog. Do you know why? No, they don’t have the power to fly, but their ears resemble the wings of the butterfly!

You would be happy to know that Papillion are very easy to train. Also, they are highly intelligent breeds. When dog shows are conducted, many dog enthusiasts yearn to use these breeds!

Taking care of Papillion is not a hard task. Regular brushing is necessary to maintain their coat. Again, they require occasional bathing. They basically don’t have a bad odor.

  3. I’m not really used to dogs, not that I hate them but I never had one. But, ever since my boyfriend had one and my workplace has a Japanese Spitz mixed with Pomeranian. I’m starting to think about getting one. They’re so sweet and adorable even the big ones. Thank you for sharing this informative article, I have more ideas about dog breeds. 🙂

  4. Although I have big dogs – 2 German Shepherds and a Shep Collie mix, I love small breed dogs. They have the hearts of lions and fear nothing!

And Bostons are my favorite! They are also known as the American Gentleman. I know the coolest Boston named Angus after Angus Young from AC/DC! He’s not scared one bit by my big dogs.

Anyway Angus loves camping trips and Clair, his mom keeps him in her bag too when we visit curio shops on a trip. Of course it’s a big bag! But Angus is happy as a bug in a rug!

  10. Hi,

Actually when people with a family having some children decide to go on for a pet they always prefer small pets.
Because they are Easy to handle, are safe, looks Cute and do not require much maintenance and care.

In many cases people don’t adopt dogs because they require much larger space and needs daily Field travel. If you would buy a smaller breed of dog then it relieves much of your worries.

You can go for Guinea pigs if you want small pet.

    With regards,
