- This is a voluntary recall and the recalled product was distributed in the state of California, Florida, Georgia, Rhode Island, Texas and Washington.
- No other product manufactured by Carnivore Meat Company is involved in this recall. So far no customer complaints have been reported to date.
- A sample of the product was selected and tested by FDA, which tested positive for salmonella.
What to do?
- The recalled product should not be sold or fed to pets. Pet owners who have the affected product at home should dispose of this product in a safe manner; in a trash with a lid so no animals can get to it.
- If you have purchased the affected product, you are advised to call the company 920-370-6542 Monday-Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM CST. The company will help you in getting a replacement or a full refund from a local retailer near you.

About Salmonella Bacteria:
- Salmonella can affect animals eating the products.
- There is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, including raw food, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.
- Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.
- Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms.
- Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers immediately.
- Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting.
- Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain.
- Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans.
