J. M. Smucker Company Withdraws Multiple Dog Food Brands Due To Pentobarbital

February 16, 2018 – J. M. Smucker Company has initiated a voluntary recall of numerous cans of wet dog food due to the presence of low levels of euthanasia drug, pentobarbital. Oral exposure to pentobarbital can cause side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, excitement, loss of balance, nausea, nystagmus (eyes moving back and forth in a jerky manner), inability to stand and coma. March 2016 Dog Food Recall By Purina

Nestle Purina is voluntarily recalling its select lots of Beneful and Purina Pro Plan wet dog foods due to the insufficient level of recommended vitamins and minerals. The recall was initiated when Purina discovered that the select lots of their products did not contain the recommended level of vitamins and minerals. Pets can become ill if they lack recommended vitamins and minerals in their diet.
