It feels sad when you see your canine buddy suffering every day. You are just helpless and don’t know what do. Dogs often vomit because of overeating. However, regular vomiting can be a serious issue. It may pose greater threat and immediate medication will be required to cure your pet.

Reasons that cause regular disgorging

  • Stomach acid– your dear pet can start vomiting if there is excess formation of stomach acid. See whether the color of the vomit is yellow or not. If it is yellow in color, then there is overproduction of acids and bile. It usually happens shortly after taking the meal.
  • Eating the grass– you might have often seen that dogs feed on grasses. There is no exact reason found behind dogs having grass. Eating grass is normal. However, if your dog eats too much food and then chews the grass, possibility is he may vomit.
  • Attracted to garbage– yes, your pet may get induced to have nonfood items.  For example, having dead animals, garbage and plants are common among dogs. This in turn affects their health and leads to vomiting.
  • Parasites in the intestines? – Yes, puppies and dogs can have intestinal parasites that cause diarrhea and vomiting. This is a serious issue and requires medical help.

Well, the reasons can be many but, a quick solution is essential to save your canine friend in the long term. Immediate action is necessary if you see your dog vomiting on a daily basis.

Give him proper nutrition

Right food at the right time gives your dog a happy life! Many people complain that their dog vomits every morning. This can be a bilious vomiting syndrome. This type of vomiting occurs when your pet’s stomach is empty.

Your dog’s stomach remains empty throughout the night. So, all that comes up is mucus, fluid and a bit of bile. However, don’t get scared. It is a normal symptom that does not affect your dog’s health. He won’t suffer from weight loss, appetite or diarrhea.

The treatment for this condition does not require medication or extra care. All you have to do is provide them the normal food routinely. Just before their bedtime, feed them their nutritional food and right after that in the morning you are supposed to feed them again. If your wake up time is 9 am and you think that your dog is fine with it, then you are absolutely wrong! Make sure that you feed your dog early in the morning. There is no need to change the dog’s food, but you need to offer them food at the right time.

Irregular vomiting over a longer period

If your pet has sporadic vomiting, it can be a sign of severe constipation, liver disease, kidney infection, intestinal inflammation or even cancer. In such cases, it is always advisable to knock the doors of the vet. Thinking about the feeding methods can be the later part of the story but, before any serious thing occurs, take your pet to the vet.

Other symptoms like dehydration, weight loss, lethargy, diarrhea and blood in vomit may take place. Keep a check on your dog and see whether the vomit is taking place regularly in the morning or is it irregular.

Give him boring meals!

You must be wondering what includes boring meals! Well, to be precise, offer your dog bland diet that includes a mixture of water, long grained white rice and half a pound of chicken. When you see your dog throw up frequently, supply him this exceptional food! In 6 cups of water add a cup of white rice and half a pound of hamburger or chicken. Boil it and bring it to simmer for at least 25 minutes. Serve this (not so delicious) food to your loving pet! Make sure that it is not hot.

It is also recommended to offer your dog small amounts of food for a few days. If you find that your pet is doing well and is no longer vomiting, you can start giving him the regular food. Do not provide him the bland diet often as it is not a substitute for nutritional food.

  1. You are right about not neglecting your dog’s health if the vomiting is persistent or regular then a visit to the vet is a must. But keeping a watch on what they eat and what we give them to eat is very important. Giving them human food is a strict no no
