I and Love and You of Boulder, Colorado, is voluntarily recalling 1,299 cases of Cow-Boom! Strips Beef Gullet because of the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.


As of 07/14/2015, the recalled products have been greatly expanded to include the products with the following information as well:

    Lot numbers ending in 4T1 or 5T1
    Best-By years of 2016 or 2017

Why recalled? possible Salmonella Contamination.


  • No other products of this company are affected by this voluntary recall.
  • This recall is limited to 1,299 cases of Cow-Boom! Strips Beef Gullet with the above identifying information.
  • This is undertaken as a precautionary measure and no reported pet or human illnesses is associated with this recall yet.
  • The recall was instigated when an inspector for the Colorado Department of Agriculture revealed salmonella in a routine check.

What to do?

  • If you have purchased these products, the company recommends that you discontinue using it immediately and dispose the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
  • To be certain that the product you purchased is included in the recall, you should look at the lot numbers and best-by-dates printed on the bag to determine if it is the right one.

About Salmonella Bacteria:

  • Salmonella can affect animals eating the products.
  • There is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.
  • Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.
  • Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms.
  • Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers immediately.
  • Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting.
  • Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain.
  • Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans.
  • If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian immediately.
