Listeria can affect animals eating the product. There is a risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surface exposed to these products.

The recalled products are sold in 2 lb chubs and can be identified with the following manufacturing codes:
- Lot #103 mfd12716
- Turkey with bone
- UPC code 854298001887
The affected products were distributed to retail stores in the following states:
- North Carolina
- South Carolina
- Georgia
- Florida
Why recalled? The products were recalled due to the potential to be infected with Listeria monocytogenes.

- The recall is being made voluntarily and with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
- It was initiated with FDA inspection and sampling of the product.
- Consumers showing the ‘Listeria symptoms’ as mentioned below in About Listeria monocytogenes section should immediately contact their health care provider.
What to do?
- If you are still feeding the affected product, you should stop and monitor your pet’s health.
- If you have any concerns or if your pet is showing the signs of listeria as mentioned further down this article you should immediately contact a veterinarian.
- Consumers who bought the product can get a full refund or exchange by taking a proof of purchase back to the retailer.
- Or dispose the products in a safe manner, in a trash with a lid so no other animals can get to it.

- Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
- Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
