OC Raw Dog of Rancho Santa Margarita, California is voluntarily recalling 2055 lbs. of Turkey and Produce Raw Frozen Canine Formulation (for dogs) because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Recalled products:

  • Turkey & Produce Raw Frozen Canine Formulations packaged into 6.5 lb. Doggie Dozen Patties and 5 lb. Bulk Bags with the lot number 1511 and use by date of 10/8/15.

Why recalled? possible Salmonella Contamination.

Notes:

  • This voluntary recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration and is only limited to the above mentioned product.
  • These products were distributed in Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri and Pennsylvania and also sold to consumers through independent pet specialty retailers.
  • A routine sampling program by the Nebraska Department of Food and Agriculture revealed a presumptive positive to Salmonella, resulting in this recall.
  • OC Raw Dog has stopped the production and distribution of the product as FDA and the company continues their investigation as to what caused the problem.
  • The company said that they will be making several changes to their methods of production in order to further protect the product they so firmly believe in.

What to do?

  • If you think you have this recalled product but are not very sure about it, please email a picture of the package with the lot number to Olivia@ocrawdog.com for verification of product in the marketplace.
  • Please return the product to the retailer where you purchased for a full refund or replacement product.
  • Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-844-215-DOGS (3647) Monday thru Friday 9am – 5pm PST.

About Salmonella Bacteria:

  • Salmonella can affect animals eating the products.
  • There is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.
  • Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.
  • Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms.
  • Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers immediately.
  • Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting.
  • Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain.
  • Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans.
  • If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian immediately.
